Formed by two New York based DJ’s and producers - Machinedrum and Praveen Sharma - Sepalcure hails from Brooklyn. Both musicians are also well known for their solo careers and musical output concentrated around chillout dubstep. Their musical cooperation began in 2009 with just a few mixes done together, forming a sound which they called lovestep.
This weird sounding term is surprisingly enough quite well tailored to match the sound of their debut EP Love Pressure (released in 2010). The first LP is filled with glitch, bass and dubstep music variations with the constant warmth and soothing flavours. When you look at other producers within the same music gender, Sepalcure’s take on electronics is quite extravagant but extremely successful (artistically and popularly).
In 2011 Sepalcure have released three more titles, two EP’s - Pencil Pimp and Fleur and LP simply entitled Sepalcure. This debut album is full with various styles and genders, from the overwhelming dubstep, through deep house, jungle, tempered juke to the shy and sensitive waves of soul.
Every Sepalcure’s official release has been put out by Scuba’s Hotflush Recordings. Sepalcure broke out of the box of electronic music scene into the mainstream with their OST produced together with Angelika Bess for the Black Swan directed by Darren Aronofsky.
